Total Knee replacement treatments is one of the common orthopaedic procedures performed by most of the hospitals. Cost of total knee replacement surgery in India is very much affordable.
Knee replacement is otherwise known as knee arthroplasty. It is a surgical procedure done to replace the surface of the knee joint (weight bearing surface) and disability. This surgery is most commonly performed for osteoarthritis and for other knee problem such as psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The knee replacement surgery can be done as unilateral and bilateral total knee replacements. In general the procedure is done by replacing the diseased or damaged joint knee with the plastic and metal components to give shape to the new and the motion knee replacement is mostly commonly performed for the person who has osteoarthritis. This type of surgery will also do to correct the significant bone knee or bone trauma in the young people.
Pre Operative:
Knee replacement is the major surgery. The pre operative begins once all the investigations done approximately 1 month. The patient is advice to take medications prescribed to develop the iron and immune system to resist the surgery pain, if the patient is not strong. The pre operative investigations are done such as blood counts, chest X ray, blood cross matching for the transfusion, ECG and electrolytes. Accurate X ray of the knee joint is needed to measure the size of the components needed to replace.
