Please find below on the process followed;
Vitro Procedure:
In this method, the patient will receive injections to stimulate ovaries and develop multiple follicles. Before the stimulation, the patient will be given a nasal spray to prevent ovulation of immature eggs, which is otherwise known as premature ovulation. This is done to suppress the pituitary gland from secreting hormones, which lead to ovulation. The menstrual period will occur 7 to 14 days after the drug (nasal spray).
Egg Collection:
The eggs will be developed from the ovaries after 36 hours of injection. This can be performed by ultrasound scan. Routine antibiotic will be injected an hour before the procedure. The egg collection procedure will be performed in the minor operation theatre. After the egg is collected, patient’s vitals will be monitored to ensure that there are no complications like internal bleeding.
Sperm Processing:
When the patient starts taking nasal spray on her first cycle, her husband may be requested to submit semen sample to check his semen parameters. If the semen has no abnormalities, he will be called to submit semen sample to the semen laboratory.
Fertilization and Embryo Transfers:
After the semen has been submitted, sperm will be injected into the collected eggs. On the successful fertilization, the fertilized eggs will start dividing as embryo. The fertilized eggs are called as embryo. The healthy embryo will be transferred to the womb and the patient will be discharged on the same day.
There are also two other methods followed for IVF, which includes intracytoplasmic sperm injection and frozen-thawed embryo transfer.
